Department of

Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRMUH offers undergraduate and post-graduate programmes. Mechanical Engineering is a structured programme that prepares students for a broad range of career choices that can lend them work in many sectors and industries. Mechanical Engineering deals with the designing and production of tools, machines, and all other mechanical equipment used in industries. The department offers many options extending across many interdisciplinary specialties. Our department is concerned with all types of machinery in industries and their mechanism and functioning; the design, development, construction, production, installation, operation, and maintenance; such as steam and gas turbines, components of thermal power stations, internal combustion engines, jet engines, machine tools, air conditioning and heating machines, refrigerators, etc. Our department prepares the mechanical engineers who are the driving force behind many of our technologies and industrial processes, including innovative products like mobiles, PCs and DVDs, etc., in our modern world.

PEDAGOGY

Department of Mechanical Engineering is a diverse discipline that encompasses the teaching, practice and leadership of others in the development and application of scientific principles to mechanical systems. The teaching goal is viewed as, students are expertise in independent innovation, interpersonal communication and inter-operability. The content of teaching should be focused on the latest scientific and technological achievements and it is necessary that students\\\' pursuit for the course by solving engineering problems. Practical cases were adopted as a teaching methodology for the development of professional skills and engineering ability. Integration of research-based teaching by faculty, activity based learning by students, in-class instructing, field practicing, extensive reading, teacher\\\'s mentoring and student\\\'s self-studying leads good teaching - learning results along with new developing thoughts.
